IWB

After working on the IWB task, I found that the software is very useful and gives a new look to the presentations at schools.

The features such as the Magic Pen, which can make the objects bigger and can highlight on a particular area can make the presentation to turn out to be attractive enough for the audience.

I feel like sharing this software with my family and friends for it can produce a new look for the typical presentations!

at last..

I was so happy because i finally managed to complete the IWB task and handed it in.

Millions of thanks to Prof. and all the tutors for preparing a session to present and get feedback regarding the IWB task.

I really make full use of the feedback given the other day.
And I use the feedback as a guide for me to make adjustment.

Hopefully my project can come up to the lecturer's expectation.

makes me wonder..

For this week, we have the opportunity to present and get feedback regarding our smartboard project.

Well, after seeing a few presentations by my friends, and after listening to the feedback given to them, I wonder if I should make more adjustment on my own project.

The session really prompts me to reflect upon my own project in a way that i realize what is lacking in my project.
so after this,I will improve more in terms of the presentation of the project, the usefulness of the activities and materials that are interesting and familiar to children.

exploration begins...

the latest assignment requires the use of smart board software. I've already have the outline on how my learning activities will look like.
now i'm in the progress of exploring the software.
it's quite difficult to get use to it..but practice makes perfect.
this is some sort of trial-and-error session whereby i have to look for the features provided in the software that i desired to use in my activities.
i'll try my best to produce interesting activities, considering the use of materials suitable for children's age, familiarity and interest.

The Use of Interactive Whiteboards (IWB) in Schools

After reading this suggested article, i strongly agree to a few techniques mentioned. they are "Multiple pages", "Prepared links", "simulation", and "Video shots".
The availability of the multiple pages allows teachers to write and draw on the board without have to worry of space limitation. this benefits students in a way that teacher can display back the previous concepts or diagram on the board to be referred by pupils. imagine how much time can be saved as teacher doesn't have to rewrite the previous writings as compared to the space provided by the blackboard or whiteboard in schools today.
In addition, links, simulation, and video shots can be gathered and displayed using this IWB. no more pasting and removing word cards and picture cards from the ordinary boards. Time can be managed wisely as teachers don't need to colour, cut or paste to come out with teaching materials. they just need to spend some time surfing the net to find suitable videos, pictures or anything that can suit and assist students' learning.
furthermore, the ability of the software to re-arrange and edit can items can serve as a platform for interaction for students because when they are asked to arrange items on the board, teacher can get them to justify the rationale for them to do so.
All in all, i think that IWB is a fresh start towards interactive learning as students can express their ideas when attempting task viewed on IWB.

mission accomplished

finally i have finished working on the project..i learn new skills while using movie maker.previously, this movie maker was a total alien for me..now i feel comfortable of using it.it's just like the first time i explore power point presentation..this is a good experience for me.

even though my project does not look like a professional work, i feel satisfied because it took me a lot of effort and time to keep on editing my project so that everything will be fixed in a 3 minutes presentation.

however, thankfully that i have accomplished everything.

new information today!!

in the class today, our tutor exposed us with some webs that i found quite informative. for instance, the website eduwebtv.com provides interesting clips related to all subjects such as english, maths and science.
as i explore the site, i realize that this might come in handy one day...it may help me in my teaching one day..majority of the clips in the sites are all of interesting and various colours.and these might capture pupils' attention towards the lesson.
as for cikgu.net, it serves as the medium for teachers to share and get latest updates of the issues in education.

criteria for assessing the assignment

my group and i are still thinking of the suitable criteria to assess the assignment..
however,i've already have a few things in mind..
i think that having colourful materials in the clip would be one of the criteria as children will be interested..
besides, words or phrases should be visible in the clip so that, if they happen to miss out the instruction being uttered, it is easy for them to refer back to the instruction provided in the clip..

about the assignment..

well, i think i'm quite excited to work on the assignment..
thanks a lot to ms Ng for giving me some encouragement on putting the effort to accomplish this task.
after watching the samples of clips in the class, i have quite concrete ideas of what to be done for my project..
Ms. Ng suggested for me to view some clips in youtube to get the idea of how my clip will be like..but of course, there are the do's and dont's..strictly no plagiarism!
well, it's fine to take chunks from here and there but there must be acknowledgement..
but for me, i think i'll just stick to my plan..not taking chunks from any clips but producing my own..
hopefully i can do my assignment successfully!!

next generation learning 2

how you as a teacher will be learning?

in using technology, a teacher doesn't only improve on his/her knowledge about it, but a teacher can gain other things too.
technology can serve as a trial and error platform for a teacher to experiment.
from my point of view, not everything related to technology can be used for everything at any time.

next generation learning

how technology is going to affect how your students are going to be learning?

i believe that learning can be made meaningful if teachers succeeded in capturing students' interest and curiousity.in my opinion, technology can become good resources to assist a lesson, and at the same time can get students to be interested in what they learn.the existence of resources ,for instance, the use of clips to show the life cycle of a butterfly, can somehow create a new atmosphere in teaching and learning session because students don't have to stare at still images of the life cycle of a butterfly pasted on the board.
consequently, this will affect how students are going to be learning in ways that they pay more attention to the lesson and they tend to remember better when it comes to things that can capture their interest.
the most important thing that i want to point out here is that teachers should know their students well so that they can find precise resources to suit students' needs and interests.

newborn............

this is my first time knowing and creating blog...
it was kind of creepy to do this..not knowing what to be done..
